Spencer Fehrenbacher
In January 2020, while returning from Vancouver, Canada to his home in northern China, Spencer Fehrenbacher unexpectedly found himself aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship during a quarantine off the coast of Yokohama, Japan.
This experience provided Spencer with the opportunity to collaborate as a Consulting Producer with Matte Projects and NBCUniversal for the documentary Hell of a Cruise. Leveraging his leadership and organizational skills, Spencer played a crucial role in managing relationships between media personnel, recruiting crew members and passengers, and facilitating key story line developments. His personal contributions included a significant portion of the footage captured during the ship's quarantine, which added a heightened level of authenticity and emotional depth to the documentary.
Spencer's firsthand experience and video documentation during the quarantine formed the backbone of the narrative, contributing greatly to the documentary's credibility and immersive storytelling. His expertise was further recognized by CBC, where he assisted in the production of The Covid Cruise, an episode of The Nature of Things with David Suzuki.
While Spencer resides full-time in Vancouver, Canada, his unique contributions to the film and documentary space continue to resonate, even as he focuses on other professional pursuits.
