Dain Said

Dain Said

Iskandar Sharifuddin, better known as Dain Said, is an award-winning Malaysian writer, actor, and director who gained fame with his first feature film, Dukun, which was produced in 2006. However, due to the controversial subject matter of the film, it was banned until 2018, when it was finally released to much anticipation and accolades. This was particularly well-received by fans of the director who had sampled his subsequent works and appreciated his unique style of filmmaking. Despite his acclaim, Said maintains an unassuming character, who prefers to remain, in his own words, anonymous. He takes acclaim and recognition in stride, always eager to credit the people who have supported him, with special mention to his producer, Nandita Solomon. His hope is to leave behind a legacy of inspiring the next generation of Malaysians with his films and stories. Said has a busy 2024 ahead as he will be serving as a director for the SeaShorts Film Festival, overseeing a mentorship writing program in Pahang, and participating in a conference on film in Sumatra.
